This is a newly shaped role within a deliberately lean, high-leverage commercial finance function. You will work directly alongside the Director of Commercial Finance – and closely with the wider management team – on the financial analysis and strategic projects that matter most to the platform.
This is not a back-office role: the expectation is that you operate as a trusted partner to management teams, produce work that is presentation-ready, and bring genuine commercial judgement – not just technical output.
Key responsibilities
FP&A & Management Reporting
- Drive the annual budget and quarterly reforecast cycle for the IM platform, coordinating inputs across functions and ensuring consistency with the Strategic Business Plan
- Produce management reporting packs – including variance analysis, cost discipline dashboards and margin tracking – for the CFO, ExCo and shareholder (COFRA) audiences
- Identify and escalate financial risks and opportunities proactively, with a bias toward insight over process
M&A & Strategic Projects
- Support M&A assessments and strategic partnership evaluations: financial modelling, business case development, return analysis and internal position papers
- Contribute to investor and shareholder materials presentations – ensuring financial content is accurate, well-framed and commercially sharp
- Provide ad hoc analytical support to the management team on cross-platform strategic questions
Team & Business Partnering
- Act as a day-to-day mentor and development resource for team, helping to raise the overall quality and independence of the team’s output
- Build strong working relationships across the platform – with investment, asset management, fund management and corporate functions – to ensure commercial finance is connected to, and informing, business decisions
- Challenge assumptions constructively; be willing to surface difficult findings clearly
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, corporate finance or chief of staff roles, with a track record of operating close to management teams
- Strong financial modelling capability – comfortable building from scratch, not just inheriting templates
- Experience in asset or investment management, real estate, private equity or a similarly complex, multi-entity financial environment
- Clear, confident communicator – written and verbal – with the ability to present financial analysis to non-finance audiences without losing precision
- Commercially curious: you read the business, not just the numbers
- Comfortable operating in a lean team where you own outputs end-to-end
Advantageous
- Familiarity with real estate investment management structures – AUM, management fees, FRE/PRE, fund lifecycle mechanics
- Experience supporting M&A processes or strategic transactions
- Exposure to shareholder or investor reporting
- Experience mentoring or line managing team members
- Proficiency with BI or data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau or similar)
