Job description

Group Control Manager

Role purpose

The Group Control Manager is a senior finance leadership role and the right hand of the CFO. The role combines responsibility for financial control, business control and finance digitalisation, with a strong focus on reliable reporting, performance management, cash generation and decision support.

The Group Control Manager works closely with the CFO, Management Team, Supervisory Board and, where relevant, lenders and investors. The role has one direct reports and plays an important part in strengthening the Group's financial discipline, data quality and control environment.

This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who combines strong IFRS and audit expertise with commercial judgement, operational curiosity and a highly data-driven mindset.

Key responsibilities

Financial control, reporting and internal audit

You are responsible for the quality, integrity and timeliness of the Group's financial reporting. This includes leading the monthly financial close and IFRS reporting process, preparing the half-year and full-year financial statements and annual report, and coordinating the external audit with KPMG.

You proactively ensure compliance with IFRS, external reporting obligations and internal financial-control requirements. You prepare accounting position papers on complex or judgemental matters where needed and ensure that the Group remains well prepared for audit, Board and investor reporting.

You also act as the Group's internal audit lead. You identify key financial, operational and compliance risks, assess the effectiveness of internal controls and follow up on improvement actions. You provide clear reporting on material risks, control deficiencies and remediation progress to the CFO, Management Team and, where appropriate, the Supervisory Board or Audit Committee.

Business control and performance management

You lead the monthly management-reporting process, ensuring full alignment with financial reporting and a consistent one truth across the organisation.

You drive planning, budgeting and forecasting cycles, including scenario analysis, performance follow-up and cash-flow forecasting. You act as a trusted sparring partner to commercial and operational leaders, helping them understand the financial implications of their decisions and identify opportunities to improve performance, profitability, working capital and cash generation.

You are able to translate operations into data, data into insights and insights into action. You provide clear analysis on key business drivers, variances, risks and opportunities, supporting the Management Team, Board and investors in decision-making.

Finance systems, data and digitalisation

You lead the further development of the Group's finance systems, reporting tools and data infrastructure. Your objective is to make financial and non-financial information reliable, accessible and easy to analyse at every level of the organisation.

You will drive the implementation and ongoing development of Power BI and other reporting, database and visualisation tools. You will work closely with finance, IT and business teams to improve data quality, automate reporting processes and build dashboards that provide practical and timely insights.

The ambition is to create a more efficient, data-driven finance function that reduces manual work and enables faster, better-informed decisions.

Strategic and ad hoc projects

The Group Control Manager will also be involved in a range of strategic and ad hoc projects, including transformation initiatives, financing and lender reporting, expansion projects, investment cases, M&A, due diligence and post-transaction integration.

Your profile

We are looking for a rare combination of technical financial expertise, business understanding and digital capability.

You bring:

  • A completed Dutch RA qualification, or an equivalent internationally recognised audit and accounting qualification.

  • Significant IFRS reporting and audit experience, ideally gained in a Big Four environment combined with experience in an international, operational or listed-company setting.

  • Strong experience with annual reporting, financial statements, audits, accounting position papers and complex financial-control matters.

  • A strong business sense and genuine interest in commercial and operational performance.

  • A thorough understanding of both P&L and balance-sheet dynamics, including working capital, liquidity, financing and cash flow.

  • Deep practical understanding of cash flow, including how operational, commercial and investment decisions affect cash generation.

  • Experience with planning, forecasting, management reporting and finance business partnering.

  • Strong digital awareness, with demonstrated experience using financial systems, databases, reporting tools and visualisation platforms.

  • Experience with Power BI or comparable business‑intelligence tools.

  • The ability to communicate clearly and credibly with senior management, Board members, auditors, lenders and investors.

  • Strong English communication skills; Dutch is an advantage.

Personal qualities

You combine the rigour of an accountant with the openness and pragmatism of a business partner. You are analytical, structured and detail-oriented, but you do not lose sight of the commercial and operational reality behind the numbers.

You take ownership, challenge constructively and are comfortable operating in a changing environment. You are able to work independently while building strong relationships throughout the organisation.

The Group operates in a scale-up environment. This requires a pragmatic, hands‑on attitude and the ability to achieve a great deal with limited resources. You are comfortable setting priorities, simplifying where appropriate, building practical solutions and taking ownership beyond a narrowly defined job scope.

This role requires flexibility, commitment and a willingness to step in when reporting deadlines, transactions or business priorities demand it. A strict nine-to-five mentality is not a fit for this position.

You have the ambition and potential to progress into a CFO role within the next three to five years.

Working model and location

This is primarily an on-site role, based at the Company's facilities in Kats. Being close to the business and working directly with operational, commercial and finance teams is essential to being effective in the role.

Remote working is possible occasionally when needed and practical, but it is not intended to be a structural way of working.

Candidates must live within a maximum travelling time of 60 minutes by car from Kats.
