Job summary

Van Lanschot Kempen seeks an Expert IT Engineer Backend Platform to drive the development, security and management of our backend platforms. You will help move services toward Azure while maintaining secure, reliable on-premises systems during the transition.

You will lead platform improvements, collaborate with security and architecture teams, and coach colleagues while embracing automation and cloud-native practices in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Windows Server platforms and hybrid infrastructures.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and modern platform services; hands-on with AD, SCOM and SCCM.
• Scripting and automation experience, preferably PowerShell.
• Ability to work independently with Azure DevOps and guide others in pipelines and releases.
• Experience with lifecycle management, patching, hardening and security improvements.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
• Ability to coach colleagues and share knowledge widely.
• Clear communication with engineers, architects, security specialists and stakeholders.
• Proactive, ownership-driven attitude and focus on platform quality.
• Keeps up with new technologies and translates impact to the platform.
• Affinity with AI tools and their application to engineering and automation.
• Excellent command of English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and improve backend platform management, security and development.
• Coordinate complex technical incidents and drive structural improvements.
• Oversee lifecycle management, patching and security hardening activities.
• Design and improve platform solutions per standards and guidelines.
• Automate management tasks using PowerShell and DevOps pipelines.
• Contribute to monitoring, documentation and platform manageability.
• Collaborate with architects, security and other platform teams.
• Coach colleagues on technical directions and quality improvements.
• Participate in cross-team initiatives for infrastructure, security and cloud.
• Focus on cost-aware, future-ready platform management with Azure and hybrid environments.
• Participate in on-call duties as needed.
