Fastned UK Limited is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Operator team and help build Revolt Admin, Fastned’s internal operations platform that powers Customer Operations, Network Operations and Field Operations. You’ll design, develop and maintain scalable services central to running one of Europe’s most reliable charging networks.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional backend experience with Kotlin and/or Java.
• Experience building and operating microservices in production.
• Familiar with event-driven architectures and Kafka.
• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch.
• Care about reliability, maintainability and the operational impact of the software.
• Clear communication, collaboration across teams and mentoring others.
• Comfort with ambiguity, taking ownership beyond your immediate team.
• Use AI tooling as part of engineering workflow with sound judgement.
• Fluent in English and affinity with Fastned’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, testing and reviewing reusable, maintainable and scalable code for Revolt Admin and Fastned’s operational platforms.
• Delivering core Operator milestones that improve Revolt Admin, reliability of Fastned’s charging infrastructure.
• Working AI-first: using AI-augmented engineering, agentic workflows and AI tooling as a natural part of how you design, build, test and review.
• Taking ownership from discovery to post-production.
• Taking operational responsibility for what you build, including monitoring, alerting and incident analysis.
• Helping improve engineering methodologies and best practices, and mentoring others as a senior engineer in the Operator team.
