Job summary

SCOR Digital Solutions, the technology arm of SCOR, is seeking a senior software engineer to join the RAS engineering team in Rotterdam. The role is backend-focused, with Ruby on Rails preferred, and candidates with other MVC stacks are welcome if they can demonstrate equivalent skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one MVC backend framework; Rails preferred.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and relational databases.
• Experience with AI tooling to augment development workflows.
• Proven ability to design, code, test and debug without AI assistance.
• Experience with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Familiarity with AI concepts or agent-based systems.
• Experience with containers, cloud platforms, CI/CD is a plus.
• End-to-end ownership from delivery to production.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a senior-level Software Engineer with over 5 years of professional experience to join our RAS engineering team. The role is primarily backend-focused, with Ruby on Rails preferred. Candidates without Rails experience are welcome if they can demonstrate competency in other backend stacks with similar MVC frameworks. The engineer will contribute to backend services, technical design, agentic AI workflows, testing, automation, documentation, and production support. The position is based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with a hybrid work arrangement and a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

Required experience & competencies

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one MVC backend framework; Ruby on Rails is preferred.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and relational databases.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tooling, such as copilots, code generation tools, or agentic tools, to augment development workflows.
• Proven manual competency: able to design, code, test, and debug without AI assistance.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with AI concepts or agent-based systems.
• Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails is preferred.
• Experience building or integrating LLM-based agents or agentic workflows is a plus.
• Familiarity with containerization, such as Docker or Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD tooling, or infrastructure-as-code is a plus.
• Experience owning software end-to-end—from delivery through running and maintaining it in production—is a plus.
