Job summary

TomTom’s Traffic Control Features team in Automated Driving develops algorithms and ML models that turn real-world observations into reliable map data for traffic signs, lights and road markings. You’ll work with applied scientists and software engineers to translate inputs into scalable map content.

You will design production-ready ML solutions, improve feature detection and drive recall, precision, and map quality while collaborating across data, modeling and evaluation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in Applied Science, ML, algorithms or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, ML, CV, Geospatial Science, Statistics or similar; Master/PhD is a plus.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms and ML, including model development, evaluation, statistics and experimental design.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and large-scale data processing with Spark/Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms and ML solutions for traffic signs, lights, road markings and other features (CV/Image Recognition).
• Design and productionize solutions to extract map information from large, noisy real-world data sources.
• Improve detection, positioning and association of features with roads and driving direction.
• Drive improvements in recall, precision and map quality against targets.
• Own components of production pipelines from data input to validated map output.
• Solve geospatial and computer vision challenges, including map matching and large-scale evaluation.
• Run experiments, translate results to production, and document outcomes.
• Use AI tools to support solving, data analysis and engineering productivity.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to hiring.
