Job summary

TomTom is seeking an experienced applied scientist to join the ALF team within the ADAS & ADS Product Unit. You will develop ML software and algorithms powering HD maps for ADAS, lead design and production rollout, and mentor junior engineers in an agile, collaborative environment.

You will work across geospatial modeling, ML evaluation, data pipelines, and performance optimization while collaborating with scientists, engineers, and product teams globally.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional Applied Science, ML, or related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, ML, Computer Vision, Geospatial Science, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s or PhD is a plus.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithm design and analysis: data structures, complexity reasoning, and applied geospatial/signal-processing problems.
• Strong fundamentals in machine learning: model training/evaluation, statistics, and experimental design.
• Proficiency in Python; experience with at least one ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and at least one large-scale data processing framework (Spark, Databricks).
• Experience taking algorithms, ML models, or data pipelines into production and leading projects to delivery.
• Experience mentoring junior colleagues and providing insightful code reviews.
• Breadth across applied science with depth in some areas; quick to pick up new sub-domains.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality algorithms and ML software powering TomTom's HD maps for ADAS.
• Lead design, implementation, and integration of algorithms, ML systems, and data pipelines from framing to production.
• Drive improvements in recall, precision, latency, and cost against customer-facing targets.
• Own components within processing pipelines from data input to validated outputs for downstream use.
• Tackle complex problems like noisy signals and large-scale evaluation pipelines.
• Iterate using agile methods and document outcomes for team reuse.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns, provide code reviews, and contribute to hiring.
