Job summary

Fairphone is seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused on AOSP and Android to extend the device lifecycle to 8 years. You will lead architecture across the Android stack, including vendor interfaces, with emphasis on security and performance after vendor support ends.

You will report to the OS Longevity Tech Lead and work alongside senior engineers on Android AOSP and Linux kernel, contributing to cross-device codebase and long-term maintenance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in the Android ecosystem with system bring-up, maintenance and upgrades.
• Degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required.
• Proficient in C/C++, Rust, Java and Kotlin for Android development.
• Experience with HALs (camera, audio, WiFi, Bluetooth) is a plus.
• Strong open-source, unit/integration testing and CI experience.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and maintain the Android OS on Fairphone devices.
• Provide clear analysis of reported issues with deep root-cause investigation.
• Mentor engineers and drive software quality improvements.
