Job summary

ASM seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to develop practical, science-grounded ML solutions for materials science and semiconductor applications. You will design AI models for thin film development, embed physics-based constraints, and drive end-to-end data pipelines and dashboards.

You will collaborate with AI/ML, chemistry, materials and semiconductor teams to deliver reproducible workflows and decision-support tools. This role targets impacting R&D with cutting-edge AI methods at ASM.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in CS, Data Science, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on experience building ML models, tools and frameworks for materials science.
• 6+ years’ experience applying AI/ML or computational methods to complex problems.
• Experience with atomistic to feature-scale simulation/tools like MLIPs, DFT, MD, kMC, etc.
• Translating physical/chemical challenges into practical AI/ML workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and support AI models and workflows for chemical systems for thin film development.
• Model and embed known physics to ensure outputs and turnaround times.
• Use state-of-the-art GenAI frameworks for materials science and ML tools.
• Build data pipelines from multi-modal data sources.
• Collaborate with software and data science engineers to deliver reproducible pipelines, dashboards, APIs and decision-support tools.
• Mentor engineers to define modelling standards and communicate across AI/ML, chemistry, materials and semiconductor teams.
