Job Description

As Senior EU grants advisor, you will play an important role in supporting academic staff in developing their research ideas into strong fundable grant proposals. You will provide researchers with grant information and support and advise them when applying for grants. You will use your knowledge and experience to drive change and improvements. You will work closely with the other enthusiastic colleagues from the FHML-Grants Office on:

  • Proactively identifying and evaluating European grant opportunities, as well as responding to researchers’ requests for grant information.
  • Discuss grant opportunities with researchers and advise on the match of a research idea with a grant opportunity and corresponding funding requirements.
  • Build, extend and lobby in your network of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on building consortia.
  • Collect and disseminate grant information relevant to FHML.
  • Analyse data and advise management on improvement opportunities.
  • Write policy documents to implement changes and improvements.
  • Provide training and information sessions, within FHML and/or university wide.
  • Liaise with Funding bodies.

Requirements

You are organised, proactive and result oriented. You can work under pressure and have an independent working attitude.

  • A relevant academic qualification, preferably a PhD in Life Sciences or another relevant Beta study.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the academic sector or other complex organizations. Knowledge of the Dutch and European grant landscape is necessary.
  • You are an experienced lobbyist and have a broad and functionally relevant network.
  • Affinity with the academic sector and preferably several years of excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills in English and Dutch.

What we offer

As a Senior Advisor EU funding at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 according to UFO profile Knowledge Valorisation Officer, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3378,00 and €5331,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences

At the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), everything revolves around healthy living.
