Job summary

Acerta Pharma, part of AstraZeneca, seeks a Scientist in Bioscience to support target identification, mechanism‑of‑action studies, and small‑molecule discovery in haematological oncology. You will work hands‑on with cell and molecular biology, CRISPR/Cas9 workflows, and imaging to advance drug discovery.

You will contribute to experimental planning, communicate results clearly in English, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams as you help build AstraZeneca Netherlands R&D hub in Amsterdam

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cell/Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, Biotechnology or related field.
• Hands-on experience in general cell and molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.
• Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 or related genetic perturbation approaches.
• Ability to translate results into clear conclusions and communicate in English.
• Willingness to work onsite in Oss, transitioning to Amsterdam in 2027.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize and execute cell-based assays to measure viability, proliferation and pathway responses.
• Apply CRISPR/Cas9 and perturbation approaches to study target biology and pathway function.
• Perform molecular assays (qPCR, Western blot) and imaging to study mechanisms.
• Interpret data, plan experiments with teams and document results.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams and maintain notebooks.
