Vopak in Rotterdam offers a Safety & Sustainability Intern role focused on integrating critical chemical property data into the VPC to improve VOC calculations. You will bridge chemical engineering principles with enterprise software development, contributing to a global environmental reporting platform.

The internship runs 32–40 hours per week in a hybrid model, with a 575€ monthly allowance and a 4–6 month duration starting January 2027.

Qualifikationen

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (HBO) in the Netherlands.
• Strong foundation in physical chemistry, thermodynamics and vapor pressure.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with an interest in data structures, databases and enterprise IT systems.

Aufgaben

• Analyze the Global Product List, terminal lists, and VOC calculator lists to determine correlations and best matching strategy.
• Use the NIST database to create an inventory of Antoine constants and molar masses for stored products.
• Research and apply methods to calculate and represent chemical properties of complex compounds and mixtures.
• Recommend implementation steps for adding chemical property fields to the VPC DevOps pipeline.
• Recommend steps to adjust the in-house VOC calculator to read from the updated VPC API.
• Rigorously validate the new chemical properties database against VOC and VPC lists before deployment.
