Job summary

Farmless in Amsterdam is offering an internship in systems engineering for BrewControl, a Rust-based bioprocess control system that talks to pumps, sensors, and a custom compiler. You'll own a central project end-to-end, from drivers to runtime, with real fermentation hardware in our pilot plant.

This is for builders who love hardware, embedded firmware, and learning fermentation biology; you’ll work on real-world software that directly influences production and plant performance.

Qualifications

• Rust is used in production and you’ve more than tutorials.
• A fermentation context teaches you to expect and handle failure.
• Builder projects or firmware work beyond coursework.
• You can debug real hardware with unideal conditions.
• Fast learner eager to dive into fermentation biology and automation.

Responsibilities

• Own a central project end-to-end, chosen by strength and plant needs.
• Write drivers for instruments and characterise vessel thermal behaviour.
• Tune controllers against your own model and bring online for production.
• Extend the program runtime to run on distributed hardware.
• Debug sensors, protocols, and data paths in the real plant.
