Job summary

Jaamo, an ERP platform for childcare organizations, seeks a remote Rails developer in Europe to build features and fix issues in a Rails monolith. You will collaborate with a product team and use AI agents to accelerate coding while maintaining quality.

Based in Europe with flexible hours and a strong emphasis on collaboration, you’ll contribute to a SaaS platform with a focus on planning, communication, and administration for childcare providers across Europe.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional Ruby on Rails experience.
• Based in Europe for timezone alignment (Western Europe preferred).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Kanban, Scrum, or similar agile environments.
• Self-starter who works independently in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• AI Skills (required) and proficient in using AI coding agents in your IDE (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Codeium, or similar).
• Willingness to share prompts, patterns and best practices with the team.

Jaamo is an ERP platform for childcare organizations in the Netherlands. We support our customers with planning, communication, and administration, from long-term child planning and staff scheduling to parent apps and financial integrations. We're a team of 19 with short lines of communication, where everyone is involved in developing our product. Support, consultants, and developers work together to ensure Jaamo continually improves.

Within Jaamo, you'll be part of a product team of 8 developers, 1 UX designer, and 1 Product Owner who work closely together to continuously improve the platform.

A Day in the Life

Working remotely, you'll start your day with coffee or tea and join the development team. We work in a Kanban flow with clear priorities and daily async standups.

You will:

• Implement new features and tackle bugs in our Rails monolith
• Discuss solutions and architecture options with your teammates
• Use AI coding agents in your IDE to speed up routine work, explore solutions, and improve code quality
• Collaborate closely with support and consultants when issues are complex or
  domain-specific

Collaboration is key. You'll connect with fellow developers for support or pair-programming whenever needed. There's also room for fun, so expect laughter and team spirit throughout the day. By the end of each day, your efforts will have made Jaamo better, safer, and faster for our users.

Who We're Looking For

Must-haves

• 3–5 years of professional Ruby on Rails experience
• Based in Europe (for timezone alignment, Western Europe preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in Kanban, Scrum, or similar agile environments
• Self-starter who takes ownership and works independently in a remote setting
• Good written and verbal English (Dutch is not required)

• Proficient in using AI coding agents in your IDE (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Codeium, or similar) as part of your daily workflow
• You understand when AI speeds you up and when you need to slow down, think, or refactor yourself
• Open to sharing prompts, patterns, and best practices with the team so we all improve together

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Stimulus/Hotwire
• Experience with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3)
• Experience with Android and/or iOS development
• Experience with performance optimization and security in a SaaS context

• Salary range: €40,000 – €60,000 annually, depending on experience
