Job description

As Rotating Engineer, you perform all necessary engineering activities related to rotating equipment engineering and design. You support and assist other Engineers with their assignments and take the lead in work performed by vendors and suppliers. You assist the Discipline Lead Engineer in following up and controlling all deliverables, activities, and reports within the discipline to achieve higher efficiency and lower costs, without compromising safety, quality, or project requirements.

General Tasks

• Ensure awareness and care for Health, Safety & Environmental aspects during daily actions, and promote HSE performance throughout the project and/or internal/external services activities.
• Conduct engineering activities related to rotating equipment such as pumps, fans, turbines, compressors, etc.
• Advise, support, and assist other Rotating Equipment Engineers in their tasks.
• Assist the Department Manager Mechanical in maintaining rotating equipment engineering work instructions, specifications, and standards.

Specific Tasks

• Advise Process Engineers in selecting suitable rotating equipment for specific process designs.
• Preliminarily select rotating equipment using vendor’s selection software to facilitate sizing and installation by other disciplines.
• Prepare technical specifications, equipment data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid tabulations.
• Review customer’s technical requirements and incorporate them into project data sheets and specifications.
• Perform vendor document reviews to assess design suitability, including rotating equipment.
• Evaluate deviations and alternative technical solutions proposed by vendors.
• Coordinate rotating equipment issues with disciplines such as Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, Furnaces, Piping, Civil, Static Equipment, Procurement, and Construction.
• Provide technical assistance to sales and estimating departments in obtaining and evaluating vendor quotations.
• Assist the QC department during inspections at manufacturers' shops upon request.
• Ensure that adequate second-party checks are performed.
• Incorporate lessons learned, including quality deviation lists and quality improvement points.

Education and Experience

• BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
• Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
• Knowledge of international standards related to rotating equipment, such as API 560, API 516, API 610, API 618, API 673, ASTM, ISO, Euronorm, PED.
• Knowledge of requisition workflows.
