Job summary

Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam is seeking a Restaurant & Bar Supervisor to oversee the restaurant, Lobby & Lounge Bar, and room service with an international team. You ensure guests have a great experience, that orders are correct, and that staff are trained and supervised, even when you are not on the floor.

You contribute to smooth shift handovers, handle payments, and conduct two annual staff evaluations with the (Assistant) Restaurant & Bar Manager.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food & beverage offerings and service standards.
• Minimum 3 years as restaurant & bar waiter in a hotel.
• Fluent in English; Dutch language preferred for communication.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and ensure hospitable service with our food and beverage options.
• Take orders, prepare drinks, and engage with guests while on shift.
• Supervise and train employees; ensure correct orders and smooth service.

Job description

Improving the processes in our hotel, training your colleagues, and making sure everything runs smoothly at the restaurant and at the bar. You ensure that all colleagues have the right tools to make our guests happy with our food and beverage services. And as the supervisor, you are responsible for the restaurant, the Lobby & Lounge Bar, and the room service, together with our international team here in our big hotel. Be limitless

During your shift you make sure that everything runs smoothly. If a waiter cannot solve a complain, you jump in to help. You check that the orders are correct, and the employees are well supervised and trained, as you are not always on the floor. Together with the whole team, you make sure that everything is going according to plan and at the end you hand the shift over neatly to the colleagues taking over. This way the colleagues are up to date. Moreover, you are responsible for administrative tasks, such as processing and checking payments, and carrying out two annual staff evaluations, together with the (assistant) Restaurant & Bar Manager. No limits to your abilities.

In addition, you are:

• responsible for welcoming the guests and making sure they feel hospitable with our food and beverage options. Good service is our number one priority;
• providing correct information about the drinks and dishes, and serve them appropriately;.
• involved in complex questions, complaints or feedback from our guests;
• responsible for supervising and training the employees;
• making drinks and taking orders, while making small conversation with our guests;
• preparing the restaurant for the dinner or cleaning up after breakfast;
• refilling the drinks in the bar, so all drinks are available.

Your work hours depend on where you are working that day; bar, restaurant or room service. For our restaurant and the room service, your working times are from 07:00 till 15:00 and from 15:00 till 23:00. You are also, open for a shift change. For the bar, the working times are from 09:00 till 17:00, from 15:00 till 23:00, and from 16:00 till 00:00.

You have:

• the appropriate food & beverage knowledge, such as wine and cocktails knowledge;
• minimum 3 years of experience as restaurant & bar waiter in a hotel;
• fluent written and spoken knowledge of the English language and preferably the Dutch language as well.

• a monthly gross salary of between €2.505 and €3.032 in accordance with scale 5 of the Collective Labour Agreement for the Dutch hospitality and catering industry;
