Job summary

Keenfinity Group is offering a Research Intern position focused on an AI tool for mechanical engineering. You will map engineering workflows, identify AI opportunities, and develop proofs of concept in a hands-on, international team environment.

You’ll work with experienced engineers to explore AI applications in mechanical tasks, prototype solutions, and present findings. The internship includes an allowance of €500–€600 monthly and the option to work from home one day per week.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, AI, or related field.
• Strong interest in AI and its practical engineering applications.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and ability to present findings clearly; proactive and independent working style.
• Willing to work at least 3 days per week from the office.

Responsibilities

• Map the engineering workflow – analyze tasks like 3D modelling, drawings, BOM, cost calculations, specs, testing and simulations.
• Identify AI opportunities – determine tasks that can be automated or enhanced with AI.
• Research AI solutions – explore tools and approaches relevant to mechanical engineering.
• Define use cases – translate findings into practical use cases based on engineering needs.
• Develop proofs of concept – prototype AI applications to demonstrate potential.
• Evaluate feasibility – assess accuracy, reliability, efficiency in engineering contexts.
• Recommend next steps – provide concrete recommendations for integration into workflows.

As a Research Intern, you’ll explore how AI can transform the daily work of mechanical engineers. Your goal is to identify practical opportunities where AI tools can automate, accelerate, or improve engineering tasks and develop concepts that demonstrate their potential in a real-world engineering environment.

• Map the engineering workflow – Analyze common mechanical engineering tasks such as 3D modelling, technical drawing creation, BOM generation, cost-price calculations, requirements specification, testing, validation, and simulations
• Identify AI opportunities – Investigate which mechanical engineering activities could be automated or enhanced using AI and assess their potential impact
• Research AI solutions – Explore existing AI tools, technologies, and approaches relevant to mechanical engineering and evaluate their capabilities and limitations
• Define use cases – Select promising applications and translate them into clear, practical use cases based on business and engineering requirements
• Develop Proofs of Concept – Prototype selected AI applications to demonstrate how they could support or automate engineering tasks
• Evaluate feasibility – Assess the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and practical applicability of AI solutions in a professional engineering environment
• Recommend next steps – Translate your findings into concrete recommendations for how AI could be integrated into the mechanical engineering workflow

• Currently studying Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
• Strong interest in AI and its practical applications in engineering
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
