Job description

Omschrijving functie

CWI logo Postdoc/researcher (m/f/x) Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) has a vacancy in the QuSoft research group for a talented Postdoc/researcher (m/f/x)on the subject of characterisation, learning and testing in bosonic quantum computers. Job description Theoretical models of quantum computers typically consist of qubits. Physics, however, naturally provides us with other natural modalities of quantum computing. First among these is bosonic quantum computing, which has seen substantial experimental progress, but comparatively little work on the theoretical computer science side. The goal of this postdoc position is to perform research on property testing, learning theory and characterisation of bosonic quantum systems, as well as the classical simulation of bosonic quantum computation. This position is established as part of the Quantera consortium Batir-le-chat, which brings together researchers from the Netherlands, Germany and France to work on the theoretical aspects of bosonic quantum computing. Requirements We are looking for an excellent scientist with expertise in quantum computing and quantum information processing in general, with a strong interest in bosonic quantum computing and/or characterisation or testing/learning theory. Needed qualifications for candidates include proven research talent and good academic writing and presentation skills. Candidates are expected to have an excellent command of English. Terms and conditions The terms of employment are in accordance with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Research Centres ("CAO-onderzoeksinstellingen"). The gross monthly salary for an employee on a full time basis, depending on relevant work experience, ranges from € 4,374 to € 5,758. The appointment will be for a period of one year, with the option to extend 1.5 more years (for a total of 2.5) by mutual agreement. Employees are also entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary ...
