Job summary

We are seeking a seasoned Property Lawyer to join a Local Authority Legal Services team on a fully remote basis for a 3-month contract. This role involves handling a diverse range of property law cases, offering expert legal counsel to officers and stakeholders, and facilitating various property transactions and development initiatives.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, juggle multiple priorities, and deliver practical, solution-oriented legal advice.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FCILEx with a valid practicing certificate.
• Extensive post-qualification experience in Property Law.
• Experience in both commercial and residential property matters.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating property agreements and legal documents.
• Experience in Local Government property matters.
• Experience working in a remote legal services environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a diverse caseload involving commercial and residential property issues.
• Offer legal guidance to council departments, senior officers and stakeholders.
• Draft, review, and negotiate property-related legal documents.
• Advise on acquisitions, disposals, leases, licenses, easements, wayleaves and land transactions.
• Support regeneration, development and asset management projects.
• Conduct title investigations and property due diligence.
• Draft and finalize legal agreements for property transactions.
• Provide counsel on landlord and tenant matters.
• Assist project teams with complex property-related challenges.
• Participate in remote meetings to offer legal advice as needed.
• Maintain precise case records and file management systems.
