Job summary

Jobgether, via a partner company, seeks a seasoned Network & Security Engineer in the Netherlands to manage pfSense and OPNsense firewalls, VPNs, and routing in a fully remote setup.

You will design, implement, and document network architectures, automate repetitive tasks with Ansible/Python/Bash, and collaborate with SOC and NOC teams to keep systems secure and reliable. This role emphasizes practical expertise over certificates and requires English and Spanish fluency, with German as a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• Hands-on experience with pfSense and OPNsense
• Strong knowledge of IPSec VPN implementation and troubleshooting
• Experience with BGP or other dynamic routing protocols
• IPv4/IPv6 networking experience
• Proxmox environment networking experience
• Basic network automation using Ansible/Python/Bash
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Independent, proactive, documentation‑driven
• English and Spanish fluency; German a plus

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day network and firewall operations
• Configure and document IPSec VPNs and firewall rules using pfSense/OPNsense
• Design and document network environments for projects
• Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, and VPN issues
• Develop basic network automation to streamline deployments
• Collaborate with SOC to analyze firewall logs and incidents
• Train and onboard colleagues and share knowledge
• Participate in rotating NOC/SOC duty shifts
