Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd is seeking a freelance Embedded Linux Engineer for a fully remote role. The project runs 1 November start, 40 hours per week, until May with possible extension.

You will work on stabilising and enhancing an EVerest-based codebase, debugging, testing, and delivering reliable fixes from week one. Candidates should have hands-on EVerest experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fully remote setup.

Qualifications

• Experience with Embedded Linux and open-source software.
• Hands-on experience with the EVerest platform.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience running software tests and analysing test results.
• Able to understand existing software quickly and contribute to system stabilisation.
• Analytical, proactive and comfortable working independently.
• Available for 40 hours per week from 1 November.

Responsibilities

• Debug and troubleshoot software issues within an Embedded Linux environment built on EVerest.
• Analyse technical problems to find root causes and propose sound solutions.
• Plan, run and review software tests, and interpret the results.
• Get up to speed quickly with the existing codebase and system architecture.
• Help stabilise the system by fixing defects and improving reliability.
• Work with open-source components and keep changes in line with the wider EVerest ecosystem.
• Document findings, fixes and test outcomes clearly so the wider team can follow progress.
