Job summary

Sire Search is seeking a Maintenance and Reliability Engineer based in Groningen to lead maintenance and asset management improvements. You will drive initiatives to increase equipment reliability, develop robust maintenance strategies, and collaborate across Engineering and R&D to optimize operations on site.

The role requires 3–5 years’ relevant experience, fluent Dutch and English, and a hands-on, proactive approach with strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Completed technical college education.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in maintenance, reliability, or a similar field.
• Strong background in maintenance engineering and asset management within a manufacturing environment.
• Fluent in Dutch (mandatory) and English.
• Knowledge of maintenance methodologies such as RCA, FMECA, and Life Cycle Costing.
• Analytical mindset with structured problem-solving skills.
• Proactive, collaborative, and able to work independently.
• Willingness to work full-time onsite in Groningen.

Responsibilities

• Investigate root causes of machine failures.
• Assess equipment failures to determine the most effective repair, maintenance, or improvement actions.
• Develop and refine maintenance plans and solutions to increase equipment availability.
• Organize and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring smooth operational continuity.
• Create clear and detailed work instructions for operators and maintenance teams.
• Analyze breakdowns to identify whether issues are electrical, mechanical, or a combination of both and determine appropriate solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, R&D, and cross-functional teams to implement maintenance improvements.
• Support the implementation of an inventory management system for spare parts.
• Develop and optimize preventive maintenance strategies in cooperation with relevant departments.
• Apply maintenance methodologies such as RCA, FMECA, and Life Cycle Costing.
• Monitor machine performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvements.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing equipment reliability.
• Contribute to developing troubleshooting guides and other technical documentation.
