Job summary

APM Terminals is seeking an AM Regional Inventory Specialist based in The Hague to act as the single point of contact for inventory-related matters across brownfield and greenfield terminal projects. You will combine inventory expertise with global project deployment, supporting warehouse setup, ERP readiness, start-up spares, and terminal go-live activities.

You will report to the Global Business Process Owner Inventory, with a dotted line to the Head of Business Integration – BIM, and travel

Qualifications

  • Bring at least 7 years of experience in inventory, warehousing, or supply chain management.
  • Solid understanding of spare parts management in industrial or terminal environments.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles including stock optimisation and lead-time management.
  • Experience with ERP or CMMS systems and inventory data; IFS experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to analyse inventory data and KPIs to support decisions and improvements.
  • Understand maintenance and operational requirements to support equipment uptime.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project-related inventory and supply chain activities, including warehouse setup and readiness.
  • Support ERP (IFS) setup and operational readiness with Global Inventory Data Steward team.
  • Define and coordinate start-up spares with Procurement and Global Inventory Parts Engineers.
  • Provide terminal go-live support for inventory matters until handover to local Inventory Manager.
  • Ensure availability of critical spare parts and materials for safe terminal operations.
  • Optimise inventory levels, forecasting, replenishment, and supply chain performance.
  • Resolve inventory risks, shortages, and issues to maintain business continuity.
  • Act as Global Inventory SME for processes, systems, governance, and compliance.
  • Deploy and maintain global inventory standards, master data, policies, and frameworks.
  • Establish inventory performance management and drive improvements in accuracy and cost.
  • Coach and develop local teams for sustainable adoption of global inventory practices.
  • Collaborate across Maintenance, Planning, Procurement, Operations, and other stakeholders.

Travel Requirements

This role is part of the BIM Rapid Deployment Team and requires global mobility and an ability to travel extensively to support project deployments across the APM Terminals network. Expected travel is approximately 50%, depending on project deployment needs and terminal go-live schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate project-related inventory and supply chain activities, including warehouse setup and operational readiness
  • Support ERP (IFS) setup and operational readiness in collaboration with Global Inventory Data Steward team members
  • Define and coordinate start-up spares with Procurement and Global Inventory Parts Engineers
  • Provide terminal go-live operational support for inventory matters until handover to the local Inventory Manager for business-as-usual operations
  • Ensure availability of critical spare parts and materials to support safe and reliable terminal operations
  • Optimise inventory levels, forecasting, replenishment, and supply chain performance
  • Resolve inventory risks, shortages, and operational issues to maintain business continuity
  • Act as the Global Inventory SME for processes, systems, governance, and compliance
  • Deploy and maintain global inventory standards, master data, policies, and operating frameworks
  • Establish inventory performance management and drive improvements in accuracy, availability, cost, and efficiency
  • Coach and develop local teams to support sustainable adoption of global inventory practices
  • Collaborate across Maintenance, Planning, Procurement, Operations, and other stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes
What We Are Looking For
  • Bring at least 7 years of experience in inventory, warehousing, or supply chain management, with a solid understanding of spare parts management in industrial or terminal environments and a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of inventory management principles, including stock optimisation, demand planning, lead-time management, and service-level trade-offs
  • Bring experience with ERP or CMMS systems and inventory data, with IFS Supply Chain, Asset Maintenance, or relevant certifications considered advantageous
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse inventory data and KPIs such as stock turns, fill rate, and inventory accuracy to support decisions and continuous improvement
  • Understand maintenance and operational requirements and how effective inventory management supports equipment reliability and uptime
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills across Maintenance, Planning, Procurement, Operations, and other stakeholders
  • Be willing and able to travel globally, work across different terminal environments, and support BIM deployments; a relevant passport and driver's licence are required
  • Operate effectively in dynamic, high-pressure, and evolving environments, particularly during project deployments
  • Communicate fluently in English; additional international languages such as Spanish or French are an asset
