R&D Engineer — Cable Innovation & Leadership

Job summary

Prysmian Group in Emmen, NL, is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to lead product development projects and provide technical leadership for low voltage cables produced in the Netherlands.

You will act as the main interface between NL R&D and local R&D and Operations teams, driving innovation, certification processes, and cost/environmental improvements while ensuring safety and quality standards across the lab and plant.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an industrial testing environment, R&D experience preferred.
• Experience in wire and cable production and/or sales preferred.
• Demonstrated project leadership and communication skills required.
• English and Dutch language proficiency required.
• Basic computer proficiency required (Microsoft Office, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Lead product development projects and provide technical leadership for low voltage cables produced in the Netherlands.
• Serve as the contact point between NL R&D and local R&D and Operations teams.
• Collaborate with Sales and Operations to understand technical development opportunities and requirements and drive order production to implement new products, processes, or materials.
• Collaborate with other R&D teams to align product and evaluation requirements between product or material development, cable design, and the Emmen lab.
• Understand industry standards and serve as a technical contact with notifying bodies used to certify product compliance.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to improve cost and environmental impact of products.
• Own and maintain certifications and implement test programs to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with Sales to understand market needs and competitors' technologies.
• Test and implement new products or process technologies with factory Production and Engineering teams.
• Lead field failure investigations and projects addressing root causes of underperformance.
• Support Quality and Engineering teams in root cause and risk analyses in daily production.
• Represent R&D to the factory management team and liaise between local team and NL R&D.
• Maintain high safety standards and promote safe lab/plant practices.
• Lead cross-functional project teams and communicate progress, challenges, impact, and timing to stakeholders.
• Report on key project metrics including environmental impact, cost, and new product implementation.
• Support daily activities including safety and 6S tasks.
