Job description

Be a part of the development of the scalable quantum computer of the future by performing state-of-the-art qubit measurements.

Groove Quantum is building the scalable quantum computer of the future based on semiconductor germanium quantum dots. By integrating our leading semiconductor quantum processors into full-stack, operational quantum computers, we deliver both the hardware and software required to move quantum computing beyond the lab. As a Quantum Measurement Engineer, your main mission will be to play a key role in building a robust measurement pipeline that enables automated, high-throughput characterisation of quantum-relevant metrics across thousands of qubits. You will design, develop, and implement quantum control and automation strategies while analysing large datasets to feed insights directly into systems engineering decisions.

Main responsibilities
  • Processor measurement & tune-up: Work directly with state-of-the-art semiconductor quantum processors, designing and implementing control strategies to automate QPU tune-up and characterisation.
  • High-throughput measurement framework: Set up and optimise the measurement framework required to enable automated, high-volume characterisation of quantum-relevant metrics.
  • Performance analysis & correlation: Implement an analysis framework to track device performance and correlate design/fabrication parameters directly with measured quantum outcomes.
  • Data-driven system feedback: Analyse large datasets of qubit performance metrics to feed actionable insights into system design, optimisation, and operation.
  • Cross-functional R&D collaboration: Work closely with theorists, software engineers, and fabrication engineers to accelerate R&D efforts and advance technology.
The team

You will be a core member of our quantum measurement team, working in close, daily collaboration with our quantum software engineers, systems engineers, and fabrication specialists. This role reports directly to the CTO and has no direct reports, focusing on hands-on experimental research, measurement automation, and data analysis.

We are looking for a goal-driven, analytical experimentalist with strong problem-solving skills and an engineering mindset who takes ownership of complex R&D projects in a fast-moving startup environment.

  • Education: PhD or PhD-level experience in physics, electronics, or a closely related field.
  • Experimental quantum research: Proven hands-on experience conducting experimental research in quantum computing, ideally involving (spin) qubit operation and/or quantum dot physics.
  • Python & automation: Proficiency in Python for quantum control, experiment automation, and data analysis.
  • Hardware & cryogenic setups: Hands-on experience building and operating experimental setups, including AWGs, digitisers, DACs, and cryogenic systems.
  • Analytical & communication skills: Excellent analytical capabilities paired with strong written and spoken English communication skills for working in an international environment.

At Groove Quantum, we’re all about fresh perspectives and different backgrounds. Fun fact: research shows most people talk themselves out of applying because they don't hit 100% of the job specs. Don't do that!

  • Frontier Tech: Tackle high-impact problems at the forefront of the quantum revolution.
  • A World-Class Team: Collaborate with an ambitious, international, and creative team in Delft's premier quantum ecosystem.
  • Flexibility & Balance: Enjoy flexible hours, hybrid work, and 30 days of paid vacation (plus public holidays).
  • Financial Growth & Equity: Receive a competitive salary, an 8% holiday allowance, and stock appreciation rights.
  • Global Network: Expand your horizons with full backing for international conference travel and industry partnerships.

We are committed to building an inclusive, supportive workplace where initiative is celebrated. Join us, bring your ideas, and scale your career as we shape the future of quantum technology.
