Job summary

Optiver seeks a Quantitative Trading Intern in Amsterdam to experience how research, technology, and live trading converge on our trading floor. You will receive rigorous training from in-house educators and participate in a ten-week program designed to prepare you for a potential full-time trader role after graduation.

Quantitative Trading Intern

As our Quantitative Trading Intern, you'll see how research, technology and trading come together in live markets while getting first‑hand exposure to Amsterdam's trading floor. Under the guidance of industry experts, you'll engage in simulated trading sessions that reflect real market conditions and work on projects connected to real trading questions. By the end of the ten‑week internship, you'll be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to succeed as a Quantitative Trader at a leading global trading firm.

What You'll Do

Requiring quick thinking, a critical mindset and bold action, our ten‑week internship is as close as you can get to experiencing what it's like to be a trader. You'll be trained by our in‑house education team of former traders and researchers, who are fully dedicated to delivering a rigorous and supportive internship experience. The comprehensive training program offers you the opportunity to:

• Deep dive into trading fundamentals, from probability, market structure and strategy to the technology used to make decisions in fast‑moving markets


• Develop your trading skills and strategies by trading on live markets using real Optiver technology, with simulated capital


• Take part in a research‑led project , exploring how data analysis, market behaviour and hypothesis testing contribute to trading strategies


• Learn how we use AI and use it yourself to solve real‑world trading problems


• Gain exposure to various trading and research desks and experience the financial markets first‑hand


• Push your limits and accelerate your growth in a fascinating and high‑performing environment

Based on your performance during the internship, you could receive an offer to join our firm full‑time in Amsterdam or London after your studies.

Who You Are

• Penultimate‑year student in a STEM field, with the ability to work full‑time upon graduation in 2028

• Experience in programming or scripting in Python is a plus
