Optiver Holding BV invites penultimate-year STEM students to join a ten-week Quantitative Trading Internship in Amsterdam. You’ll learn trading fundamentals, work with our education team, and apply data-driven approaches to live market scenarios with simulated capital.

During the internship you’ll receive rigorous training, exposure to multiple desks, and a pathway to a full-time offer in Amsterdam or London after graduation, depending on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Penultimate-year student in a STEM field with the ability to work full-time after graduation in 2028.
• Exceptional quantitative and logical reasoning skills.
• Interest in strategic games and competitive activities.
• Programming or scripting experience in Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

Quantitative Trading Internship (2027 Start)

As our Quantitative Trading Intern , you’ll see how research, technology and trading come together in live markets while getting first‑hand exposure to Amsterdam’s trading floor. Under the guidance of industry experts, you’ll engage in simulated trading sessions that reflect real market conditions and work on projects connected to real trading questions.

By the end of the ten‑week internship, you’ll be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to succeed as a Quantitative Trader at a leading global trading firm.

What you’ll do

Requiring quick thinking, a critical mindset and bold action, our ten‑week internship is as close as you can get to experiencing what it’s like to be a trader. You’ll be trained by our in‑house education team of former traders and researchers, who are fully dedicated to delivering a rigorous and supportive internship experience. The comprehensive training program offers you the opportunity to:

• Deep dive into trading fundamentals, from probability, market structure and strategy to the technology used to make decisions in fast‑moving markets
• Develop your trading skills and strategies by trading on live markets using real Optiver technology, with simulated capital
• Take part in a research‑led project , exploring how data analysis, market behaviour and hypothesis testing contribute to trading strategies
• Learn how we use AI and use it yourself to solve real‑world trading problems
• Gain exposure to various trading and research desks and experience the financial markets first‑hand
• Push your limits and accelerate your growth in a fascinating and high‑performing environment

Based on your performance during the internship,you could receive an offer to join our firm full-time in Amsterdam or London after your studies.
