Van Oord is seeking a Python Developer to join the Production Engineering Application Management team in Rotterdam. You will develop and maintain Python-based applications used by engineers, contribute to full-stack development, and collaborate with diverse teams to deliver value in a Scrum environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in a similar software development role, with 3–5 years of Python application development experience (medior/senior level).
• BSc or MSc degree in dredging, civil, offshore, maritime engineering, or another relevant technical field.
• Strong Python development skills and experience with modern software engineering practices, including Git, testing, documentation, and CI/CD.
• Affinity with full-stack development, including Vue, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and related technologies.
• Experience in Scrum/Agile environments, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive, user-focused communicator who can translate business processes into new functionalities and coach team members when needed.
• Dutch citizen or holder of a valid residence permit that allows working in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python-based applications used by engineers.
• Contribute to full-stack development across frontend, backend, and databases.
• Collaborate with development teams, operations and end users.
• Support continuous improvement of development processes and applications.
• Develop production simulation platforms and models to optimize predictive capabilities.
• Design and build scalable, reliable applications using Python, Vue, and PostgreSQL; manage CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments (Kubernetes).
• Ensure high code quality with well-documented code, testing and debugging.
