Your day at NTT DATA

The public cloud centre of excellence leader is responsible for defining and leading the public cloud capability within the Netherlands. The role brings together cloud architecture, security, platform engineering and managed services to establish a consistent, secure and scalable approach to public cloud adoption. The leader will guide the development of cloud services, standards, operating models and landing‑zone capabilities. The role will work closely with senior management, sales, service delivery, security, architecture and engineering teams to translate client and business needs into practical cloud services. Aligned with the NTT job framework, the position is accountable for the efficient operation, optimization and continuous improvement of complex managed services. The role also supports technology innovation, client engagement, service development and the connection between sales and delivery.

Key responsibilities
Cloud strategy and centre of excellence leadership

Define and maintain the public cloud strategy, roadmap and operating model for the Netherlands. Lead the public cloud centre of excellence and establish clear governance, architecture, security and engineering standards. Develop repeatable cloud services, delivery patterns and platform capabilities that can be used across client environments. Translate business and client priorities into measurable cloud objectives and delivery plans. Maintain awareness of technology developments and assess their relevance to the public cloud service portfolio. Promote cloud adoption through internal workshops, technical sessions and knowledge‑sharing activities.

Architecture, security and platform governance

Provide leadership across enterprise architecture, information architecture, technical architecture and cloud security architecture. Ensure that security, risk, compliance and operational requirements are embedded in cloud designs and delivery methods. Oversee the development and continuous improvement of secure public cloud landing zones. Establish architectural guardrails covering identity, connectivity, security, monitoring, resilience and platform operations. Work with security leadership and onshore security specialists to maintain appropriate security governance. Ensure that architecture decisions consider operational support, service management and the long‑term maintainability of client platforms.

Service development and commercial contribution

Work with senior stakeholders on the roadmap for cloud services and solutions taken to market. Help define clear and practical value propositions for public cloud offerings. Build strong working relationships between sales, solution architecture and managed‑services delivery. Contribute to bids, proposals and client presentations relating to public cloud services. Maintain visibility of relevant opportunities in the sales pipeline and support an effective transition from solution development into delivery. Identify opportunities to improve existing services or introduce new public cloud capabilities. Contribute to financial performance through service growth, delivery quality, profitability and technology innovation. These responsibilities reflect the framework’s focus on commercial performance, technology innovation, service roadmaps, value propositions, bid support and sales‑to‑delivery alignment.

Service delivery and continuous improvement

Set measurable objectives for the public cloud team and monitor achievement against agreed outcomes. Establish appropriate standards for service quality and client satisfaction. Review and optimise cloud‑delivery processes, tools and methodologies. Develop a culture of continuous improvement, automation and reusable delivery practices. Review service performance information and use the findings to improve quality, reliability and client outcomes. Collaborate with technology vendors and service partners to integrate third‑party capabilities into the managed‑services environment. Ensure that public cloud services have clear ownership, service definitions and operational expectations.

People leadership

Lead, coach and mentor architects, platform specialists and senior cloud engineers. Create clear team and individual objectives aligned with the public cloud strategy. Support capability development across architecture, security, landing zones and platform operations. Encourage collaboration across cloud, infrastructure, network, security, database and middleware teams. Develop succession and skills plans for critical public cloud capabilities. Build an environment in which specialists can challenge existing practices and contribute to service innovation.

To thrive in this role, you need to have

Extended experience leading an IT services, cloud or managed‑services team, preferably within a large, matrixed organisation. Strong experience defining or leading public cloud strategies, cloud operating models or cloud centres of excellence. Broad understanding of cloud services, infrastructure, cybersecurity, application management, networks and data‑centre technologies. Experience with enterprise, information, technical and security architecture. Experience establishing governance, architecture standards and secure cloud landing zones. Strong understanding of managed services and IT service management practices. Experience working with technology vendors, cloud providers or service partners. Ability to connect technology decisions with commercial, operational and client outcomes. Strong client‑facing communication and stakeholder‑management skills. Ability to explain complex technical subjects to technical and non‑technical audiences. Experience analysing service performance, risks and priorities and recommending practical actions. Demonstrated people leadership, including the ability to inspire, coach and mentor senior specialists. Ability to work across functions, countries and professional disciplines.

Technical knowledge

The successful candidate should bring broad leadership‑level knowledge across: Public cloud architecture and platform engineering. Cloud landing‑zone design and operation. Enterprise and technical architecture. Account and platform security architecture. Identity, network and security integration. Storage, network and security technologies. Linux and Windows operating environments. Hypervisors and virtualisation. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Middleware and integration platforms. Platform support, monitoring, automation and operational readiness.
