We are seeking an experienced Project Safety Specialist to support project activities by ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations. In this role, you will work closely with the project team and contractors, providing hands‑on coaching, monitoring safety performance, and driving continuous improvement in safety practices. You will play a key role in implementing safety policies, investigating incidents, and fostering a proactive safety culture across all project phases.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Safety Supervision & Compliance
- Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations during project activities in collaboration with the project team.
- Participate in and document joint safety rounds with contractors.
- Conduct random checks at project locations to verify adherence to the Health and Safety Management Plan.
- Verify compliance with GTS-CSA-38 N1/2/3 standards.
On‑Site Support & Coaching
- Provide proactive, on‑site coaching and guidance on:
- Support and clarify safety procedures to operational teams.
- Attend and contribute to safety meetings with contractors.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and define corrective actions.
- Complete and maintain all incident reports in the BeSafe reporting system.
- Report incidents to the Project Manager and Occupational Safety Department.
- Follow up on improvement actions to ensure closure.
Advisory & Policy Implementation
- Advise and support the project team on safety, health, and associated risks.
- Ensure implementation of the organization’s safety policy across the project.
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures during:
- Operational processes
- Planning phases
- Mobilization and demobilization
Monitoring & Documentation
- Document safety monitoring activities in line with GTS-CSA-38 procedures.
- Maintain records of safety rounds, checks, and compliance findings.
- Deliver periodic operational reports to the Health and Safety Business Partner.
- Provide functional reports to the Occupational Safety Manager.
Profile Requirements
- Completed technical MBO education.
- Certification in Secondary Safety Science (MVK).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within above‑ground and underground pipeline construction.
- Strong knowledge of earthmoving activities and safety risks in construction environments.
- Demonstrable experience in:
- Safety management, especially in complex or concurrent activities
- Incident investigation and reporting
- Excellent coaching and communication skills with a supportive, non‑enforcement approach.
- Fluent in Dutch and good command of English.
- Possession of a valid Category B driving license.
- Contract Duration: June 1, 2026 – June 1, 2028 (with possible extension)
- Working Hours: 32–40 hours per week (maximum 1,840 hours per year, prorated if applicable)
