Job summary

Ballast Nedam Wind & Marine zoekt een Project Engineer Wind & Marine die de technische inhoud van offertes bewaakt en tijdens de uitvoering zorg draagt voor integriteit van het project. Je vertaalt concepten naar uitvoerbare engineeringoplossingen, bewaakt risico's en werkt nauw samen met tenderteams, projectmanagement en leveranciers.

Je hebt een afgeronde academische studie (bachelor of master) in werktuigbouw- of civiele/ maritieme/ offshore engineering en 5–10 jaar ervaring in offshore wind

Qualifications

• Bewezen ervaring met offshore wind of maritieme projecten.
• Verbinding tussen tender- en uitvoeringsfases maken.
• Coachen en ontwikkelen van junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Ontwikkelen van technische oplossingen en uitvoeringmethoden voor offshore funderingen en BoP-installatie.
• Coördineren van interfaces met leveranciers en onderaannemers.
• Identificeren en mitigeren van technische risico’s met behoud van kwaliteit.
• Coachen en ondersteunen van (junior) project engineers.
• Bijdragen aan engineeringprocessen en best practices.

At Ballast Nedam Wind & Marine, we deliver complex offshore wind and marine infrastructure projects that are central to the energy transition and maritime development. As a Project Engineer Wind & Marine, you are responsible for the technical content of our tenders and for engineering during the execution phase of these international projects.

You ensure that projects meet technical, quality and constructability standards from tender to final delivery.

Your Role

You translate concepts and designs into practical, executable engineering solutions, while keeping technical risks under control. You collaborate closely with tender teams, project management, supply chain partners, and subcontractors. Once a tender is awarded, you remain involved throughout execution, ensuring the technical integrity and continuity of the project.

You are technically strong and enjoy coaching junior engineers, bringing structure and knowledge to the team, and contributing to building a robust engineering organization within a fast-growing business unit.

What You Will Do

You will work on international offshore wind and marine projects, where planning, cost and quality must continuously be balanced. This requires technical insight, flexibility, and the ability to align engineering with project goals.

One day you work on tender strategies and technical methods; the next, you discuss execution details with site teams and international partners, or mentor engineers in their professional development.

Your responsibilities include:

• Developing technical solutions and execution methods for offshore foundation, Balance of Plant (BoP) installation, marine infrastructure, and decommissioning projects.
• Managing engineering activities during both the tender phase and project execution.
• Coordinating technical interfaces with suppliers, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Identifying, managing and mitigating technical risks, while safeguarding quality and constructability.
• Coaching and supporting (junior) project engineers in their technical growth.
• Bringing structure to a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent activities.
• Actively contributing to the development of engineering processes and best practices.

You will join a compact, entrepreneurial team within Ballast Nedam Wind & Marine. The unit feels like a startup within a larger organization: short communication lines, room for initiative, and continuous development.

The team consists of senior and junior project engineers, supported by project, tender, and business development managers. Together, you deliver tenders and projects that matter internationally and in the heart of the energy transition and maritime infrastructure. What You Bring

You thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy building solutions in a team that is still evolving. You are technically strong, remain calm under pressure, and know how to bring others along in your vision.

You also bring:

• A completed bachelor's or master's degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Maritime or Offshore Engineering).
• 5-10 years of experience as a Project Engineer within offshore wind, offshore O&G, or marine projects.
• Experience with foundation installation, marine operations, and heavy lift operations (preferred).
• Affinity with both tendering and execution phases.
• Ability and motivation to coach and develop engineers.
• An entrepreneurial mindset and the drive to build and improve.
• Flexibility in a fast-changing, dynamic working environment.
