Job summary

Oceans of Energy is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Projects Department in the Netherlands. You will coordinate test campaigns and marine operations, acting as the liaison between Engineering, Project Management and Asset Management from a project execution perspective.

The role involves planning, coordinating offshore activities, drafting technical specifications, and supporting tenders. Willingness to travel offshore and to work in a dynamic scale-up environment is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years experience in project engineering, preferably in renewables with offshore exposure.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Build, commission and install offshore floating solar farms and keep operational per contract.
  • Plan and execute marine/offshore operations: towing, anchors, hook-up, cable installation.
  • Prepare specifications, material estimates, vendor quotations, and technical clarifications.
  • Support business development in tenders and subsidy requests; prepare method statements.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams; resolve technical issues with customer and project lead.
  • Maintain project man-hour budgets and schedules; provide input on schedule and cost progress.

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Projects Department. If you are passionate about renewable energy, possess strong technical expertise in marine operations, and enjoy working for a scale up, then this is your chance! As our project engineer you will be important in preparing and coordinating the test campaigns and the marine operations. You will be the linking pin between Engineering, Project Management and Asset Management from a project execution perspective, and contribute to developing a delivery standard for future offshore solar projects.

Responsibilities and tasks
  • Build, commission and install offshore floating solar farms and contribute to keep it operational as per contract with clients.

  • Plan, prepare and execute the marine/offshore operations such as: towing operations, anchor installations, hook-up campaign and power cable installation operations.

  • Analyze and prepare project specifications, writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses.

  • Provide support to Business Development department in tenders and subsidy requests, such as preparing method and execution statements.

  • Collaborate with Design and Engineering experts (design engineers, hydrodynamic experts, mooring engineers, electrical experts, operations and maintenance engineers, etc).

  • Resolve project technical issues for the Customer and Project Lead.

  • Work with the Project Lead and Engineering team to maintain project man-hour budget and schedule. Provide input to Project lead and Project Controller regarding schedule and cost progress.

  • Supervise subcontractors regarding project-specific engineering scopes (mooring system analysis, dynamic cable design, installation engineering, etc).

  • Occasionally go offshore to support the execution / implementation of the scopes prepared by you.

  • Provide input to development of tools, methodologies, standards and procedures.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to offshore solar farm projects.

Job requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (preferred), or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (1-3 years) in project engineering, preferably in the renewable energy sector with exposure to offshore installations.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, both independently and as part of a team; team player who is motivated to take on a technical challenge.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a hands-on approach to execution; self-starter with creative and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, native Dutch and fluent in English, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Willingness to travel to offshore locations as required.
