Job summary

The Kingfish Company is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead capital investment projects at our state-of-the-art production facility. You will manage engineering design, procurement coordination, and commissioning activities across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, on-time, and budget-conforming solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering or industrial project delivery.
• Experience from concept to commissioning management.

Responsibilities

• Translate operational needs into technical project scopes and designs.
• Lead projects from initiation through commissioning with scope, budget, and timelines.
• Collaborate on PLC/SCADA modifications and control system changes.
• Support procurement, installation, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities.
• Provide handover documentation and ensure CMMS asset integration.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and company standards.

As we continue to expand and optimize our operations, we are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Technical Department and help shape the future of sustainable food production.

As Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and delivering capital investment projects from concept through commissioning. You will work on equipment upgrades, facility modifications, and new installations across our state-of-the-art production facility.

This is a hands‑on engineering role that combines project management, engineering design, supplier coordination, and commissioning activities. You will collaborate closely with operations, maintenance teams, contractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and according to the highest technical standards.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

Project Development & Engineering

• Translate operational and business needs into technical concepts and project scopes
• Develop engineering designs, technical specifications, layouts, P&IDs, and engineering documentation
• Select and specify mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure fully integrated solutions

Project Management

• Manage projects from initiation to commissioning
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and system integrators
• Monitor scope, budget, timelines, and project risks
• Provide regular project progress reporting

Automation & Control Systems

• Collaborate with automation and controls specialists on PLC and SCADA modifications
• Review, test, and validate control system changes and integration activities

Execution & Commissioning

• Support procurement, installation, inspections, FAT/SAT testing, and commissioning activities
• Troubleshoot technical issues and support performance optimization
• Ensure complete project documentation and successful handover

Maintenance & Operational Support

• Ensure new assets are correctly implemented within the CMMS system
• Support maintenance teams with training and technical documentation
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and future operational support

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all engineering activities comply with HSE requirements, applicable legislation, company standards, and engineering best practices
• Promote safe, reliable, and maintainable engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering, engineering design, or industrial project delivery
• Proven experience managing projects from concept through commissioning
• Experience within industrial, manufacturing, utility, process, food, or similar technical environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent in English; Dutch is considered an advantage. [JD - Proje...gineer new | Word]

Technical Skills

• Experience with CAD software such as Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar
• Familiarity with P&ID development and engineering documentation
• Knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems is an advantage
• NEN 3140 and/or VCA certification is considered beneficial
