Job summary

Solarplaza in Rotterdam seeks a Program & Event Manager to own international B2B conferences in solar and energy storage. You will lead end-to-end program development, content quality, and on-site execution with cross-functional teams and advisory boards.

You will translate market insights into compelling conference concepts, engage senior speakers and partners, and manage budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships to deliver high-impact events.

Qualifications

• Have a minimum of 3+ years of experience in the event industry or the renewable industry.
• Have delivered complex, multi‑stakeholder projects or events end‑to‑end.
• Perform well in fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environments.
• Take ownership naturally and work well with limited structure.
• Are confident engaging senior external stakeholders (advisory boards, speakers, partners).
• Are proactive in outreach and relationship building (calls, emails, follow‑ups).
• Manage competing priorities with structure and calm execution.
• Communicate clearly and professionally in English.
• Are based within commuting distance of Rotterdam.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end organization of international B2B conferences in solar energy and energy storage.
• Translate market trends in renewable energy and develop conference concepts and agendas.
• Identify and engage relevant speakers, industry experts, and advisory board members.
• Build and manage event business cases, budgets, revenue targets, and performance goals.
• Source and negotiate with event suppliers (venues, AV partners, …).
• Manage multiple international conferences simultaneously.
• Coordinate internal project teams including Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Content.
• Manage external stakeholders such as venues, speakers, sponsors, and partners.
• Ensure high‑quality execution from planning through to on‑site delivery of events supported by our Monday.com project management tool.
• Be able to host some of our conferences and feel confident with your stage presence.

At Solarplaza, we are looking for a Program & Event Manager to take full ownership of the content, execution, and quality of our international B2B conferences in solar and energy storage.

This is a high-ownership role, combining project management, program development, and stakeholder engagement. You will work directly with advisory boards, industry leaders, venues, and partners—often initiating conversations yourself.

Your Role & Responsibilities

As Program & Event Manager, you are responsible for the full lifecycle of international B2B conferences, from early concept development to on‑site execution.

You ensure both:

• What the event delivers (logistics, program content, speakers)
• How the event performs (execution, stakeholder management, commercial results)

Your performance is measured based on the impact and quality of each conference:

• Achievement of event targets (attendance, audience quality, partner satisfaction)
• Sponsorship and partnership revenue performance
• Quality and relevance of conference programs (speaker and attendee feedback)
• Stakeholder engagement (speakers, advisory board, partners)
• Delivery excellence (timelines, budget control, operational execution)
• On‑site event quality and smooth execution
• Development of a strong pipeline for future events (speakers, partners, topics)

Preferred Experience

• Experience in B2B conferences or international event environments
• Exposure to renewable energy or adjacent industries
• International or multicultural working experience
• Additional languages

What We Offer

• 28 days of paid leave per year (based on full‑time employment).
• A gross monthly salary of €3,200–€4,400, depending on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
• Initial 12‑month contract with the intention to extend.
• Up to 20 remote working days per year (after 6 months).
