Job description

Telespazio Belgium can count on almost 40 years of experience in the field of Space Operations Service & Engineering activities.

On behalf of the European Space Agency, we will be soon looking for a highly skilled Production Engineer to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.

What is expected from you
  • Identify cost drivers, critical processes, and improvement measures in the manufacturing, assembly, integration, test and logistics of European Space Systems generating detailed value stream maps highlighting critical processes and components.
  • Track systems production progress, industrial capacities and capabilities, and status of projects.
  • Monitor resource conflicts, signal deviations and propose solutions to keep plans on track.
  • Review schedules, process flows, etc. to understand methods and activities in operations, integration and services, and solutions to improve efficiency and eliminate waste.
  • Provide inputs to production engineering requirements for inclusion in industrial contracts.
  • Analyse critical paths, identify critical areas and produce accurate and concise analyses and recommendations.
  • Propose relevant supply chain optimizations to increase agility and competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain complex system and sub-system planning and schedules. Maintain the master document lists, Configuration Item Data List, As Built Configuration List (ABCL) evolution, bilateral documents, engineering plans, requirements baseline, and other governing documents, ensuring that the content is consistent and accurately reflects the design baseline evolution, and coordinating review and approval processes.
  • Monitor the sustainability of the systems supply chain by identifying and implementing relevant measures to reduce CO2 footprint by 40%, e.g. by reducing internal and external logistic effort and transport, reducing reworks, replacing environmental unfriendly & hazardous processes, supporting the usage of renewable or low-impact extraction methods, and reducing energy consumption – in cooperation with the ESA Clean Space office.
  • Collect, assess and sum up information on trends related to technical infrastructure and sustainability.
  • Support in creating processes / methods to gather supplier contract and process activity data, designing control systems to minimise and resolve process and project issues.
  • Provide support to management of ESA provided equipment, (e.g. equipment being operated in or on international partner modules).
  • Support the project team in Technical Reviews with Industrial Consortia or International Partners (e.g. PDR, CDR, QAR, Manufacturing / Integration / Test Readiness reviews, Post-Test reviews, Pre-Shipment reviews, Delivery Review Boards), by reviewing the associated data packs for completeness, coherency and for proper change and waiver implementation.
  • Provide review of technical industrial proposals, support project teams and technical meetings with industry or International Partners
  • Plan and support audits / physical inspections regarding engineering and PA&S
  • Support project teams in implementation of harmonized engineering practices throughout the Agency and its projects.
  • Monitor engineering processes to be specific, accurate and controlled, yet agile and adaptable to allow rapid implementation of process improvements.
  • Support project teams to identify and introduce automated methods and tools to streamline and improve team collaboration and configuration and data management tasks.
  • Provide updates to documentation of related processes and procedures
What you offer
  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Physics, Engineering or Computer Science is required.
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, configuration/data management and process monitoring, with ability to introduce automation and digital tools
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, integration, test, logistics, and supply chain optimisation, including value stream mapping and sustainability measures.
  • Knowledge of industrialisation and serial production methods and advanced production technologies.

Where

You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
