Job summary

The Kingfish Company in Kats, Zeeland, Netherlands, seeks a Senior Production Biologist to care for yellowtail kingfish in our RAS facility. You will focus on quality control and assurance related to fish welfare while optimizing production systems and maintenance.

You will join a 30+ person Zeeland Production Team, working day, night and weekend shifts with a strong emphasis on safety, innovation and collaboration. Housing options are available near Kingfish Zeeland for up to 3 months.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Aquaculture.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in land-based aquaculture.
• Hands-on with technology and strong problem-solving skills.
• Physically fit and willing to get hands dirty.
• Flexible attitude, comfortable with irregular shifts.

About the job

As our new Senior Production Biologist, your main purpose is to provide high quality care of our yellowtail kingfish by providing the best possible circumstances within our RAS facility in Kats, Zeeland. You will be involved in system optimization and maintenance and specifically focus on quality control and assurance related to fish welfare.

You will be part of the Kingfish Zeeland Production Team, a team of young and ambitious people with a shared passion for growing fish in a sustainable way with a continuous commitment for improvement. You will join a team of 30+ people with different backgrounds, nationalities and cultures. There’s a real work hard, play hard mentality. Your tasks will be

Among many other things your tasks will consist of:

• QA fish welfare
• Manage production systems and maintenance of life support systems
• Manage feeding according to rearing strategy
• Assist with fish transfers and grading
• Ensure and optimize biosecurity
• You will be part of the shift system

Naturally, you’ll make sure that all of this is done in a healthy and safe manner for both our animals and people within all the different departments within the organization. You’ll be working in both day shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts together with other colleagues from the production team. Your regular workday starts at 7.00 AM.

Who are you?

• You have a BSc or MSc degree in the field of Aquaculture
• You have a minimum of 3 years experience in land-based aquaculture
• You have a hands‑on feel for technology and are a real problem solver
• You’re physically fit and not afraid to get your hands dirty
• You have a flexible attitude, working irregular times is part of the deal
• You have a car and driving license
• You are eligible to work in the Netherlands; we prefer a candidate who already lives in the Netherlands
