Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Production and Engineering specialist to support VSAT Integration and Test. You will assemble and test equipment, create work instructions, and coordinate resolutions with Product, Engineering and Quality teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering, experience in production engineering, and strong English communication. SAP proficiency and lean mindset are highly valued for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Proven track record in Production and Engineering.
• Experience in VSAT technical troubleshooting and resolution.
• Strong English communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test equipment with quality and accuracy.
• Coordinate in-house engineering issues in VSAT Integration and Test.
• Create work instructions and checklists from guides and plans.
• Configure and fix Infinity units and other equipment.
• Build and test racks, equipment and kits for integration and testing.
• Identify defects and escalate for resolution.
• Collaborate with Global Integration and Test teams and OEMs.
• Maintain and tidy Integration and Test area following 5S.

What you'll do

• Ensure that all types of equipment are assembled and tested with quality.
• Manage and coordinate all in-house engineering issues encountered in VSAT Integration and Test and liaise with Product Group, Engineering and Quality team for resolutions.
• Responsible for creation of work instruction, checklist based on the test Install guide and Implementation plan provided by the project owner and solutions Engineer.
• Configuration and fixing of Infinity unit/s and other value-add on equipment, including Fleet Broadband Terminal and other kitting materials.
• Build and Test Racks, Equipment and Kits to support Customers Integration and Test activities.
• Identify defects encountered during Integration and testing and advance these issues to relevant parties for resolutions.
• Work closely with the Global Integration and Test team Managers and submit regular work reports.
• Work closely with OEMS to fix equipment, Firmware updates, extract faults log files to identify errors.
• Support ad-hoc requests for testing and configuration such as testing requests from other business units such as G2, and Enterprise.
• Alignment of Procedures with other Regions as part of Global Supply Chain team.
• Contribute ideas in improving processes to enhance quality and increase efficiency at Integration and Testing by identifying problems or bottlenecks using LSS methodology.
• Responsible for informing new updates of firmware and software for internal partners.
• Inform the Integration and Test Team and Managers any issues encountered during testing with proper documentation. Support Returns Team on technical matters, configurations, refurbishments, repair, and resolutions.
• Close collaboration and support with Logistics and Returns as part of Supply Chain team.
• Ensure all Integration and Test equipment internally are properly maintained and in working condition.
• Support, complete and deliver tasks assigned by the Integration and Test Manager and Superior.
• Ensure that the Integration and Test area is neat and tidy and follow 5S before and after work.
• Support external Integration and Test partners on fixing of hardware and software and extend remote assistance on any issue reported during in-house testing.
• Support Supply Chain activities such as goods picking and production issuance.
• Responsible for the maintenance and making sure all test antennas are operational.

The day-to-day

Working across Maritime, Enterprise, Government, and Aviation to understand current and future requirements, analyse and report back trends, development, possibilities and opportunities.

Tight connection across the overall Global Services organisation as well as into the Product, Procurement, IT and Finance group organizations to understand and incorporate current and future requirements and strategies.

What you'll need

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
• A proven track record in Production and Engineering.
• Experience in VSAT technical troubleshooting and resolution.
• Good communication skills, strong command of English, and strong presentation skills.
• Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems required, as well as typical office applications.
• Proficiency in Pulse and Intranet systems.
• LEAN and continuous improvement mentality, and systematic documentation attitude.
• High working capacity. Able to do structured reporting, multi-tasking, work independently and a team player.
• Able to take pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
