About the job Product Quality Engineer (space domain experience)

I am looking for a Product Quality Engineer with experience in the space domain (satellites and other outer space equipment) to join my client in Delft, Netherlands.

This is a hybrid role (you will be able to work 2 days a week from home).

My client develops advanced laser satellite communication technology that pushes the boundaries of communication systems to enable faster, more reliable, and secure connections between satellites, airplanes, drones, and ground stations. They develop and manufacture optical-communication components, sub-systems, and terminals. In particular, they develop and engineer laser communication terminals as well as modular and standardized functional (sub-)systems for laser communication. The company also provides high-tech contract manufacturing expertise for cost-effective high-volume production.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and implement product assurance and quality assurance plans tailored to specific space projects, including verification and validation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable space industry standards (e.g., ECSS standards) throughout project phases.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to product quality and reliability, implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits, inspections, and reviews to verify adherence to quality procedures and product specifications.
  • Lead the analysis and resolution of non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented, verified, and documented.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality assurance standards are met across the supply chain.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed PA/QA documentation, including quality reports, audits, and product release certificates.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineering teams, and external stakeholders to integrate PA/QA best practices throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform documentation management and configuration control for all product documentation.

You will be working in multidisciplinary teams, with external development partners, and in regular consultation with customers, so communication and cooperation are vitally important to achieve the results here.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline;
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of working on space projects, with familiarity in applying ECSS standards.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and practices within the space domain.
  • Proactivity and hands-on mentality.
  • Experience with non-conformance management, corrective action implementation, and quality assurance processes in space projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and present information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Experience in supply chain quality assurance and working with subcontractors in the space industry is an asset.
  • Experience in risk management and tools such as FMEA or Root Cause Analysis is an asset.
  • Certifications or training in ISO 9001, AS9100, or other relevant quality standards (preferred).
  • Eligibility to work in the EU;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

What you can expect:

  • Excellent salary package: aligned with industry standards and reflective of your expertise and experience.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: including pension plan, and a generous amount of paid time off (31 days off), holiday allowance (8%), travel allowance.
  • Friday afternoon get-togethers (drinks and food).
  • BBQ's parties when the weather allows it, and seasonal company events/activities with your colleagues.
