Job summary

Fonterra’s Heerenveen site operates 24/7 and is one of Europe’s largest whey facilities. As a Process Operator, you will manage at least one main process — filtration, evaporation, lactose preparation or drying — and contribute ideas to safety, quality and production efficiency.

You will work closely with Technical Services, fellow operators, the warehouse, the Process Manager, the QA/QC team and the Operations Manager, ensuring clear communication with the A-ware team.

Qualifications

• MBO-4 diploma in food technology or process engineering or VAPRO-C required or preferred.
• Experience with PLC-controlled production systems.
• 1–3 years in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the whey and lactose plant to ensure optimal production.
• Collaborate with Technical Services, operators, warehouse, QA/QC and management to drive safety, quality and efficiency improvements.

About the role

As a Process Operator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal operation of our whey and lactose plant. You will master at least one of the main processes - filtration, evaporation, lactose preparation or drying - in all its aspects. You will independently manage the process and actively contribute improvement proposals in the areas of safety, quality and production efficiency.

This role requires close collaboration with the Technical Services team, fellow operators, the warehouse, the Process Manager, the QA/QC team and the Operations Manager. Clear and effective communication with the A-ware team is also essential.

About you

Qualifications

• MBO-4 diploma, preferably in food technology or process engineering, or VAPRO-C
• Knowledge of and experience with PLC-controlled production systems
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
