Job summary

TheCompany is a leading player in specialized nutrition, focusing on improving well-being through products for infants, elderly, and patients. We are seeking a Process Engineer to enhance liquid manufacturing processes for medical nutrition and infant nutrition distributed worldwide.

You will collaborate with production teams to address deviations, lead root cause investigations, and implement sustainable improvements reducing downtime and boosting performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field.
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in regulated industries preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

  • Improve process reliability, quality, efficiency and safety.
  • Monitor production performance with shop-floor teams.
  • Coach operators in documenting disturbances and downtime.

With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and compliance, our client works closely with co-manufacturers to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of safety, regulatory requirements, and nutritional excellence.

Role Description
As a Process Engineer, you will play a key role in improving the reliability, efficiency, and performance of liquid manufacturing processes for specialized medical nutrition and infant nutrition products distributed worldwide. Working closely with production teams, you will support operational excellence by addressing process deviations, leading root cause investigations, and implementing sustainable improvements that reduce recurring issues and minimize reactive firefighting. You will act as a technical expert within the production environment, collaborating with operators, team leaders, quality specialists, and project teams to ensure production processes consistently meet safety, quality, and operational standards. In addition, you will contribute to strategic improvement initiatives and may assume selected departmental responsibilities in the absence of the department manager.

Responsibilities
  • Drive improvements in process reliability, quality performance, operational efficiency, and safety within the production area.
  • Monitor and analyze production performance, working closely with operators and production teams on the shop floor.
  • Coach and support production personnel in accurately documenting process disturbances, downtime, and operational deviations.
  • Identify improvement opportunities based on production data and lead initiatives to enhance process stability and performance.
  • Lead root cause analyses for major incidents impacting key operational KPIs and establish effective preventive actions.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and provide timely technical support to maintain production continuity.
  • Represent the department in cross-functional projects, including the implementation of new processes and technologies.
  • Ensure production and quality requirements are incorporated into project designs, testing, and verification activities.
  • Collaborate with operators and production team leaders to resolve operational challenges and optimize workflows.
  • Support business continuity by taking on selected departmental responsibilities when required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience within food, pharmaceutical, medical device, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement methodologies and process optimization.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams and managing improvement projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven experience in root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic production environment and manage time-sensitive operational challenges.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and solution-driven mindset.
  • Excellent reporting, documentation, and data analysis capabilities.
  • Strong project management skills with a structured and detail-oriented approach.
  • Flexible and capable of providing practical solutions to operational and process-related issues.
  • Fluent in Dutch (mandatory) with a good command of English.
