As a Principal Product Security Engineer at Okta, you will be at the forefront of securing our products, leading security strategy, mentoring engineers, and driving impactful security initiatives. You will conduct high-level security assessments, architectural reviews, and penetration tests, influencing engineering teams on secure design, development, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and define product security strategy.
• Assess and improve security programs.
• Conduct deep-dive security reviews (architectural assessments, threat modeling, penetration testing).
• Identify and address systemic security weaknesses.
• Mentor and advise engineers on security best practices.
• Drive cross-functional security initiatives.
• Investigate and respond to high-impact security incidents.
• Represent Okta externally through research and industry events.

Requirements:

• Expert-level knowledge of application security, penetration testing, and secure architecture design.
• Strong experience in threat modeling, security risk analysis, and security program development.
• Deep understanding of authentication and authorization protocols (OIDC, SAML, OAuth).
• Ability to influence and guide engineering teams on security best practices at scale.
• Strong coding and automation skills in Python, Go, or other modern languages.
• Experience leading security incidents, risk assessments, and vulnerability management.
• Excellent communication skills.
