Job summary

Balanz Energy is seeking a Principal Go Backend Developer to shape the backend architecture of a growing energy technology platform. You will own architectural decisions and technical standards while remaining hands-on with implementation.

You will work in a small autonomous team building systems for automated energy trading, asset optimisation, forecasting, and market decision making, using Go, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and more. International relocation is supported as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Go, including concurrency and asynchronous processing.
• Proven track record designing and scaling distributed backend systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering principles.
• Comfortable making pragmatic architectural trade offs.

Responsibilities

• Shape the architecture and technical direction of the backend platform.
• Design and develop high performance services in Go.
• Build systems capable of handling large volumes of market, weather, and asset data.
• Make decisions around scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Establish strong engineering practices around testing, observability, and system reliability.
• Work closely with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Mentor other engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
• Remain hands on with implementation while providing technical leadership beyond your own area of ownership.
