Job summary

The Lancet Group in Amsterdam is seeking a Press Officer to safeguard and promote high-impact health science. You will spot newsworthy research, pitch to reporters, and craft clear media summaries while working with editors, researchers and our global team.

You will join a busy press office, manage deadlines, and help ensure accurate media coverage across 30 journals, with periodic travel to London and virtual collaboration with teams in London and Philadelphia.

Qualifications

• Interest or experience in communications, public relations, media relations.
• Interest in health and science or a related degree/qualification in a scientific/health field.
• Team player with a collaborative approach, ready to fit into our small, supportive, and global team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organised and methodical, able to juggle a busy workload while providing excellent services to authors and journalists.
• Dedicated and determined to achieve great media results.

Responsibilities

• Spot newsworthy research, identify the story, and tell it to achieve high quality media coverage.
• Manage multiple papers with deadlines; collaborate with editors, authors and comms teams.
• Identify risks to The Lancet’s reputation and propose proactive solutions.
• Oversee press release distribution and media database; provide coverage reports.
