Job description

Join us as

(Pre-Opening) Meetings & Events Coordinator

We’re getting ready to bring The Usual to life in an existing Amsterdam hotel and we’re looking for a Meetings & Events Coordinator who wants to be part of it from the very beginning. This is not only coordinating meetings and events. You’ll help bring our brand to life while building on the relationships that are already there. You’ll connect with existing clients, introduce them to everything The Usual has to offer and actively work to retain and grow their business. At the same time, you’ll attract new clients and turn our meeting & event spaces into places people genuinely want to be.

You combine great hospitality with a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset. From turning an enquiry into a booking and building lasting client relationships to being hands‑on during events: you enjoy taking ownership and making things happen.

Be you with us

At The Usual, we believe travel can be a force for good. We're not interested in hospitality for hospitality's sake. We want to create places that have a positive impact on people, communities and the environment, while building a successful and sustainable business.

Our culture is built on taking ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement. We own it, we care deeply and we stay curious together. We challenge ourselves to think differently, move fast and create experiences that matter.

The role

Creating great events & growing business

  • Handle meeting & event enquiries from first contact to confirmation, including proposals, contracts and invoicing, with a strong focus on conversion.
  • Build strong relationships with existing clients, introduce them to our new brand and actively work to retain and grow their business.
  • Identify opportunities to attract new clients, grow our Meetings & Events business and upsell our F&B and event offering.
  • Lead site visits and bring our spaces, brand and experience to life for prospective clients.
  • Coordinate all event details, including room setups, equipment and F&B packages.
  • Be hands‑on and work operational shifts during meetings and events, taking ownership on the day and making sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.

One team, one hotel

  • Collaborate closely with Reservations, Revenue, Brand and F&B to continuously improve our proposition and commercial performance.
  • Become fully trained in group room bookings, so you can support Reservations during busy periods, holidays and other periods of absence.
  • Get to know (y)our hotel from the inside out. You’ll occasionally support other operational shifts too. After all, you should know what you’re selling!
What you'll bring to the table
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Meetings & Events or a similar hospitality role.
  • A natural host with a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • You’re organised, take ownership and enjoy building relationships and turning opportunities into bookings.
  • You’re excited about building something new and helping shape our Meetings & Events proposition in Amsterdam.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • You’re comfortable working with hotel and event systems. Experience with Event Temple, Lightspeed or Apaleo is a plus.
  • Availability for 3 days per week, mainly on weekdays, with flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
  • You are legally allowed to work in the Netherlands.
What's in it for you?
  • Monthly salary between €2,505 - €2,700 based on full-time employment.
  • A contract for 3 days per week.
  • 25 holidays (based on fulltime) to relax and unwind throughout the year.
  • Personal development through our active feedback culture and personal coaching based on (y)our goals, development and ambition.
  • The opportunity to join an innovative, international hospitality group that’s committed to not just building new hotels but building a brand.
  • Regular get-togethers with your colleagues, including food and drinks.
  • Fixed travel allowance for commuting.
  • Discounts for you and your family while enjoying time off in our hotels.
  • A uniform with room for your own personal style.
  • Extra time off to volunteer for a charity you care about.
