A practice is considered a business unit of Bain. The primary role of a Practice is to drive growth for Bain in a particular industry or capability, together with offices, and boosting Bain's expertise and commercial excellence.

  • Practice Senior Manager – Performance Improvement Commercial Practice
  • Work area(s): Analytics, Data, & Research | Product Management & Innovation
  • Team: Product, Practice, and Knowledge (PPK)
  • Employment type: Permanent Full-Time
  • Location(s): Abu Dhabi | Amsterdam | Athens | Berlin | Brussels | Copenhagen | Dubai | Dusseldorf | Frankfurt | Helsinki + 11 offices

The Performance Improvement practice is the largest capability at Bain and is on the forefront of executing Bain’s strategy. Our capability works across all regions and all industries at Bain. Performance Improvement includes the following solutions: Cost Transformation (incl. APT, ZBx, NWC, Complexity), Operations (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Innovation & Product Development), Corporate Support (incl. Automation), and Service Operations.

Within Performance Improvement, we have built Commercial Centers of Excellence in EMEA, AMER and APAC to help our partners commercialize and mobilize quickly for client opportunities. We work with our most senior partners across industries and across the region to sell large/scale Performance Improvement Programs.

This individual will work closely with the EMEA PI Practice Director Lorenzo De Moiana di Cologna and the Global Leaders Aranzazu Echaniz and Stephanie Nelson (APT).

What You'll Do

Our Commercial team supports lead generation, outside-in diagnostics, client discussions as part of sales plays, opportunity-based marketing, building of microsites, and (focus) proposal development. Our team is also on the front-line, learning rapidly from potential clients and frequently pushes learnings and IP needs to the broader practice. Given the team’s experience and deep expertise, the Commercial team may also get pulled in to lead or develop IP, new tools, etc.

The Commercial Practice Senior Manager (EMEA) will be responsible for building out our commercial Capabilities in EMEA and serving commercial needs within the region.

Primary responsibilities and activities of the job will include (not exhaustive):

  • Provide deep support and expertise for highest priority PI opportunities, including sales plays through proposals – play a senior advisor and thought partner role
  • Grow expertise in our broader PI solutions and products, with a particular focus on how they are sold and key hooks (e.g., inflation, recession response, fueling growth, funding ESG transformations, scaling for growth, etc.)
  • Provide strategic insight into key IP or expertise gaps within PI practice, including cross-selling and industry-specific needs, working closely with PI solution teams
  • Bring key insights from the "front lines" back to PI solutions and products, ensuring that our IP and diagnostics are providing what is needed to win
  • Win/loss intelligence and analysis: run debrief calls with pitch teams; ask probing questions based on client context; develop an informed perspective on insights and patterns that is shared with Solution leadership
  • Drive innovation in our selling motions, through things like video testimonials, microsites, LinkedIn campaigns, forums, etc. (working with Marketing team)
  • Coordinate with other Commercial resources and practice resources (e.g., Global Commercial teams, KM team, other PAMs, etc.)

Team management

  • Co-lead (together with a BCN Senior Manager) a BCN team of 5-6 colleagues, i.e., setting the tone and working norms for the team and provide regular feedback on professional development

As a Practice Senior Manager, the individual will be an integral part of:

  • The Global PI practice team (50+ team members across the 3 regions)
  • A community of 15+ PI Practice Senior Manager, Directors and VPs globally (a team of peers with which to collaborate, learn from and experience-share)
  • Bain’s broader Product, Practice, and Knowledge (PPK) team globally (supporting all industries and capabilities)
  • The need to fill this role is immediate. Location is flexible across EMEA.
