Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for large-scale renewable energy projects in the Utrecht region. You will work hybrid, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compliant solutions from concept through commissioning.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, experience with industrial power systems, and knowledge of relevant standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience designing industrial electrical systems or power systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, control systems and protection principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical standards and regulations.
  • Experience selecting electrical equipment and interpreting technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Dutch is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems and power distribution concepts for renewable energy projects.
  • Develop electrical solutions during the proposal and engineering phases.
  • Produce electrical calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Select and specify electrical components and work closely with suppliers.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant European standards, including Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and EMC requirements.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, process and software engineers to deliver integrated system solutions.
  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

About the Opportunity

An innovative engineering company operating within the renewable energy sector is looking for a Power Systems & Electrical Engineer to join its growing team. You’ll play a key role in designing and developing electrical systems for large-scale sustainable energy projects, helping deliver technologies that support the energy transition.

This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects from concept through to commissioning, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Design electrical systems and power distribution concepts for renewable energy projects.
  • Develop electrical solutions during the proposal and engineering phases.
  • Produce electrical calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
