Job summary

Stichting Naturalis Biodiversity Center is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in Spectroscopy to develop a multimodal bioimaging workflow that combines RGB images, hyperspectral imaging and X-ray fluorescence mapping of herbarium specimens. The role involves calibrating and co-registering modalities to study spectral properties and morphology, using seaweed as a case study, and publishing findings.

Qualifications

  • PhD required in a relevant field with strong cross-disciplinary background.
  • Proven expertise in physical optics, hyperspectral imaging, and bioimaging analysis.
  • Excellent publication record and strong communication in English.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate a multimodal bioimaging workflow integrating RGB, hyperspectral, and X-ray data.
  • Calibrate and co-register imaging modalities to study spectral properties and elemental distributions.
  • Apply for funding and collaborate with Naturalis researchers and partners.
  • Mentor students and contribute to teaching and dissemination through publications and talks.
