Job summary

NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research in Den Helder, Netherlands, invites applications for a 3-year postdoc position in macrozoobenthos spatiotemporal dynamics as part of the SIBES monitoring program. The role focuses on benthic communities across the Dutch Wadden Sea, with 40 hours/week and CAO-WVOI scale 10–11 depending on experience.

The candidate will handle large spatiotemporal datasets, employ advanced statistics, and publish findings in international journals.

Qualifications

• PhD or near completion by early 2027/ end of winter 2027.
• Background in ecology and macrozoobenthos.
• Experience with large datasets and spatiotemporal analyses.
• Strong statistical, analytical and computational skills.
• Good collaborative skills and publication record.

Responsibilities

• Study spatiotemporal distribution of macrozoobenthos in intertidal habitats.
• Analyze SIBES dataset for biomass and abundance patterns.
• Collaborate with COS department and international teams.
