Nikhef invites applications for postdoctoral and PhD research in QCD and proton structure using collider neutrinos. The project UNICORN combines QCD, Monte Carlo simulations and machine learning to model neutrino production and scattering with LHC data.

Join the Theory group in Amsterdam and collaborate with CERN/FASER as part of a broader neutrino program at the LHC, with duties spanning theory, simulations, and data-driven analyses.

Qualifikationen

• Excellent software and programming skills, in particular in Python, and prior expertise in relevant topics.
• MSc degree by start for PhD positions, or shortly thereafter.
• PhD by start for postdoctoral positions, or before starting date.

Aufgaben

• Work on data-driven extraction of LHC forward neutrino fluxes and charm production at the LHC.
• Develop neutrino/muon DIS structure functions at TeV energies and integrate into global analyses.
• Develop state-of-the-art event generators with data-driven tunes and integrate with Neural Simulation‑Based Inference techniques.
