Job summary

Delft University of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral research position at the Programming Languages group, Department of Software Technology. The project focuses on connecting a proof assistant with CAP to enable categorical computations to benefit from both formal verification and algebraic efficiency.

Qualifications

• PhD (awarded by start date, or submitted with defence scheduled) in mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrable research experience in interactive theorem proving/formalisation, computer algebra, or category theory—via publications, a thesis, or substantial software contribution.
• Willingness to learn the other two areas and engage with them at working depth.
• Practical programming ability and comfort with a substantial existing codebase.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across maths/CS boundaries; good written and spoken English.
• Experience in supervising students and contributing to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the connection between a proof assistant and CAP.
• Formalise categorical doctrines underlying CAP and implement the result as documented open-source software.
• Publish results, present at conferences, and contribute to open-source libraries of both projects.
• Shape the direction of work based on interests and expertise; develop a personal research agenda.
